Static codes
A static QR code contains its final content in the image. It does not use our redirect service. Website, email, text, SMS, phone, and Wi-Fi codes can all be saved as static codes.
Use static when the content will not change and you do not need scan analytics.
Dynamic codes
A dynamic website code contains a short link. That link redirects to the website destination saved in your account.
Use dynamic when you need to:
- change the website destination without reprinting;
- pause or reactivate the code; or
- view scan analytics.
The printed image stays the same when you update its destination.
Only website codes can be dynamic in the current builder. Email, text, SMS, phone, and Wi-Fi codes are static.
Choose before printing
A static image cannot be converted into a dynamic image after printing because the two images encode different payloads. Choose dynamic before printing when future destination changes matter.
